Alcohol-serving theater opens in GardenWalk

July 22nd, 2008, 4:01 pm · 1 Comment · posted by Sonya Smith

movieexperiencephotoWithin a month, GardenWalk movie-goers may be able to have a beer with their Batman.

The movie theater in Anaheim’s recently opened mall boasts an IMAX screen and 13 other different standard-sized screens. It opened for business last week. The IMAX and six of the standard screens are showing movies now, and Bruce Sanborn, president of the company that runs the theater, said he hopes to have the last seven open within a month.

Sanborn is also working with the state Alcoholic Beverage Commission to finalize Cinema Fusion’s permit to sell alcohol. Assuming the ABC grants the license, which has already been approved by the city of Anaheim, the movie theater would be the first in Orange County to sell alcohol.

Anaheim city leaders, who have been longtime champions of the GardenWalk project, have already cleared the way for the permit.

Salem, Oregon and Portland, Oregon have been doing this for years
and its really a nice change. They have more than one theater and
do not allow patrons under 21 in the cinemas where they serve alcohol.
They serve a full menu to accompany the beer and wine.
This is all done tastefully and makes for a fun outing.
