The ESPN Zone in Downtown Disney today started the early stages of upgrading more than 100 of their 150 television screens to high definition — including the tubes in the bathrooms.
The sports bar, restaurant and video arcade will undergo renovations for the next few months, including upgrades to the video system in the roughly 25,00-square-foot facility.
“Right now, they’re doing a lot of wiring — behind the scenes stuff,” said David Nakashima, the Zone’s marketing manager. “The plans have been in the works now for quite a while. Now is the perfect opportunity — we’re at the time right before football season.”
He said the upgrades will include replacing the screens above the urinals in the men’s room and on the ceilings above the stalls in the women’s room.
The restaurant and bar close at midnight or 1 a.m., depending on the night. Nakashima said the work would commence after the restaurant closes and will finish up before it opened.

Pretty soon we’ll all be able to watch each other go to the bathroom.
I have been to ESPN zone, and truly believe that TV’s are really NOT necessary in the bathrooms.
SOMEONE (heightslife) is not a huge fan of any particular sport. Sometimes, when there is a close game (football, basketball, etc.) and you are enjoying a few beers, you need to relieve yourself and what better way to not miss a thing. How does having TV’s in the urinal hurt you anyway? It’s a private business, not tax funded.
How about doing something about the food prices - I can’t afford to eat there and also pay the mortgage every month as well
Questions is… Are they going to change that pathetic TV that is outside their doors?
Yes, according to Nakashima. That television is part of the renovation process, but it won’t happen until toward the end of the few months it takes to upgrade all the TVs.
Well, knowing this new information, I’m just going to hold my bowel movements and save them for the ESPN Zone.
Make sure you don’t get there when all the stalls are taken. Thanks for the laugh.
Sounds like gender discrimination to me. Women are being favored or discriminated against, depending on one’s view of the worthiness of peace and quite while contemplating nature.
High Def in the mensroom? Great-now I’ll have to wait in line to drop a duke!!!
I believe that the economy will recover, and that businesses need to maintain their competitive advantage, but TV’s in the John? Upgrading the existing TVs in the John to HD?
What business advantage do you get from having TVs in the Men’s or Ladies room? Perhaps they have some knowledge that I do not, but I cannot imagine that people would choose ESPN zone because they have TVs in bathroom instead of going to some other sports bar that does not have TVs in the toilet area.
But, it’s their money, they can do what they want. I think it is plain stupid!
Perhaps I am looking at this all wrong. Maybe they just have not gone far enough. How about installing a way to order food and beverage? Hey they could deliver it to your stall? Maybe an express terminal to settle your tab with a credit card? Perhaps put a little fold down table and add WiFi so customers could get stats from one of the online sports sites? Yeah, I think I am on to something. Thank you ESPNZone, I was all wrong, this makes perfect sense. You may have to enlarge the facilities so that 50% of or dining area becomes part of the Ladies and Mens rooms, and make sure that you increase you plumbing capacity, but it is innovative. NOT!
They should just put the Budweiser and Coors taps right at the toilets as well.
That stuff is p is s.
I was wondering when this was going to happen, I actually like going there to watch games because it’s a Disneyland and there are always tourists there cheering against our local teams.
Nice of them to upgrade I guess. I have to agree that the food prices there are a bit high. If the quality was better I guess it would not be so much a big deal. We are lucky enough to have many choices for sports viewing and good food here in the OC. Good for ESPN.
