Both Disney parks plan to close three hours early today because of the rain, while Knott’s Berry Farm never opened today.
UPDATE FROM DISNEY: “Unfortunately, current weather conditions do not allow us to provide the best possible guest experience,” Sanchez said in a prepared statement.
The last time Disney parks closed early was more than a year ago, Sanchez said. It is rare for Disney to shut down the parks early.
The Disneyland fireworks show is canceled for tonight.
A Twitter user, @Travenscroft, said that Disney officials made an announcement over the loudspeakers. “Lots of aw’s from crowd,” @Travenscroft wrote.
Sanchez said no uniform compensation is being offered to visitors who must leave early today. “Each guest situation is reviewed individually. Guests who are at the park and have questions can go to Guest Relations,” Sanchez said in a prepared statement.
Both parks are expected to be open at 10 a.m. Tuesday as of now. But Disney officials are evaluating the weather on a day-to-day basis and have yet to make a decision about Tuesday’s schedule. Visitors can call (714) 781-7290 for questions about the schedule.
Knott’s Berry Farm did not open today because of the rain, said Jennifer Blazey, a Knott’s spokeswoman. No official decision has been made about Tuesday’s schedule. Check Knott’s Web site before heading out.
