The Genie is staying at Disney’s California Adventure after all.
Disney has indefinitely extended the run for “Disney’s Aladdin — A Musical Spectacular” at the Anaheim park’s Hyperion Theater, Disney announced Wednesday. Disney officials say the show is staying because of popular demand.
In December, Disney announced that the last “Aladdin” show was set for Aug. 15. After that, “Toy Story — The Musical” was set to begin in early 2011, according to the Disney Parks blog.
But Disney changed its mind and “Aladdin” will stay put. Construction is scheduled around the theater in mid-August, so the show’s schedule might change.
When the departure of “Aladdin” was announced, an informal Around Disney poll found that 128 of 306 respondents wanted the show to stay. However, 155 other respondents wanted either “Toy Story” or another new show.
What do you think about Disney’s decision to keep “Aladdin” in California Adventure? Respond to the new poll or write comments below.
