NOONWIRE: Miley Cyrus stalker plea deal

SAVANNAH, Ga. - A 53-year-old man pleaded guilty Friday to resisting police outside the set of a Miley Cyrus movie on the Georgia coast after prosecutors agreed to drop charges that he tried to stalk the teen pop star.

Mark McLeod, who told police he was engaged to marry the 16-year-old “Hannah Montana” star, was sentenced by a State Court judge to two years probation and was ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation. He was also ordered to stay away from Cyrus and her family.

Disney keeps mum about Christmas TV taping

Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers have performed in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, Ryan Seacrest has served as host and local dancers have joined parades at Disneyland for previous tapings of Christmas TV specials.

But Disneyland officials won’t tell guests about the filming ahead of time.

In fact, they won’t confirm when the taping is scheduled, only saying it will happen over the next few weeks, to avoid “guest dissatisfaction,” said George Savvas, a Disneyland Resort spokesman.

One unofficial Web site — MousePlanet — is reporting that the taping of the Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade special is expected to happen Saturday, Sunday and Monday, said Adrienne Vincent-Phoenix, a MousePlanet columnist.

The way Disney sees it, the taping is an annoyance for visitors. Views are obstructed. Crowds form. The schedule constantly changes. And there’s no guarantee of a celebrity sighting.

Disney won’t say which stars — if any — will participate in this year’s event.

“We don’t want to disappoint our Disneyland guests,” Savvas said. “We do not encourage people to show up for (those days) specifically to see that taping occur.”

Perhaps no star is more important to the media giant these days than Miley Cyrus, the 16-year-old “Hannah Montana” actress who also delivers hit movies, merchandising lines and albums. The already protective company is überprotective of her.

So when a video popped up on YouTube on Monday (Aug. 24) - depicting seven gay men in speedos cavorting on a beach to “Party in the USA,” Ms. Cyrus’ new single - Disney’s blood could easily have boiled. The upbeat video is G-rated, but a tad on the flamboyant side (writhing on the sand, a pool-dancing sequence).

NOONWIRE: Monorail crash probe; Miley Cyrus’ stalker

Federal investigators probing the July 5 collision on Walt Disney World’s monorail system said Wednesday they have begun reviewing scores of company records in a search for the ultimate causes of an accident that killed a 21-year-old monorail driver.

In a brief update, the National Transportation Safety Board said it has asked Disney to provide documents detailing employee training, work history and work hours; monorail standard-operating procedures; and the mechanical and inspection histories of the trains and a track-switch mechanism.

A creepy fan was arrested for stalking Miley Cyrus and then let go because of jail overcrowding - despite telling Georgia cops the “Hannah Montana” star sends him “secret messages” through her TV show.

With Mark McLeod’s whereabouts unknown, Disney bigwigs fear for the safety of their 16-year-old franchise darling.

Studio execs are so concerned that McLeod could harm the starlet they alerted Los Angeles cops of his arrest and release in Georgia, TMZ.com reported.
